Boston Police Strike
The Boston Police Strike was caused by the same factors as most strikes in the 1920s. The Boston police were denied the right unionize or get raises. Edwin Upton Curtis was the Police Comissioners who denied these rights. There were representatives who ask for raises and got fired for asking. As a result, the remaining policemen went on strike. September 9, 1919 the stike began. Over 1,100 of Boston policemen went on stike which caused removed 3/4 police forces in the city. Some people took advantage of the low forces around and went around doing crime. The strike was so big amd well known in America, that National Guard got involved. A guy with the name of Calvin Coolidge called for the National Guard and came to put a stop on the strike.

Coolidges efforts to stop the strike was successful, the strike had end but the striking policemen were not allowed to return to work and new policemen were hired. As for Coolidge, Calvin Coolidge was praise across the nation for stoping the so called Communism which was the Boston Police Strike. In the 1920 election, Coolidge became Vice Predisent and his effort in the Boston Police Strike help him ecomplish this goal.
